Burn Your Portfolio by Michael Janda
RiSER’s very own Michael Janda has written a book called Burn Your Portfolio: Stuff They Don’t Teach You in Design School But Should. In his book, Michael stresses the point that it takes more than an amazing education and portfolio to have a successful creative career. He shares his advice collected from years of personal successes and failures. Check out his site at http://www.burnyourportfolio.com/
Three Best of State medals…again! (2013)
The combination of hard work, determination, creativity, patience and some sweat has resulted in RiSER winning three Best of State Medals on May 11, 2013. Best of State Awards are presented to individuals, organizations or businesses that have gone the extra mile to improve themselves and the Utah community.
RiSER “Working Hard” with Epsilon
RiSER’s Mike Janda and Jeff Jolley entertained their clients and friends from Epsilon (Alex, Scott and Michelle) in the backwoods and mountains of Park City. I’d say, “it was a blast” but when you watch the video, it will be quite obvious.
We’ve Moved!
After months of hard work and decorating decisions we have finally decorated the new RiSER office enough to post some pics. Last fall, we stumbled upon a great new building in Pleasant Grove, Utah and made the purchase.
Sword Of Initiative
A show of initiative at RiSER is worth more that a kick in the pants! In fact, those who show initiative and stand out, become the proud keeper of the “Sword of Initiative” that has been retrieved from the “speaker rock”. This camelot-esque trophy remains at said initiator’s desk for a period of 1 month to the envy of all other RiSERites!
Riser Open House 2012
RiSER finally opens the doors to our new hizzle. We had 237 people visit the office in our three hour window. People won prizes, had caricatures drawn, had mustache photos taken, overate junk food, played games and made new friends. It was a big success! Big thanks to all the attendees for coming to visit!
The RiSER Team Bobble-fied
Santa was good to the RiSERites this year. He knew just what they wanted… custom bobbleheads of themselves to match the amazing bobblehead collection at the office. All the bobbles were good… but some of them were quite an astonishing likeness.
Check them all out on the Riser Flickr gallery!
RiSER Talent Show
RiSER is known for superior creative, top notch programming and all around congenial personalities. But have you ever witnessed “Hero” by Alfredo, Josh’s Hobgobbler, Janet’s Supersonic Whistle, or Mike’s Chunky Chicken? We suspect you have not.
Now is your chance to learn the additional talent’s of the RiSER team by watching the video below. If we could make a living doing these things, we’d do it for sure. Check out other videos from the RiSER team on our Vimeo site.
RiSER Surf Utah Style
More RiSER team members take their turn on the boat, August 29, 2012. Attendees include (Mike, Jeff Jolley, Josh, Jenny, Ethan and Jeff Mills). This was one TOUGH day at “work.”
Summer BBQ Kickoff
The weather is finally warm in Utah…well more consistently at least. The RiSER team wanted to start the summer off right with a BBQ at the office. Special shout outs to Debbie’s hand-sculpted hamburgers, and to Jeff’s great grilling skills. The meal was a success.
RPG Soccer 2013
We work hard in the office, and play hard on the soccer field. We’ve formed an indoor soccer team called RPG aka RiSER Pleasant Grove. We have weekly games at Soccer City Utah. So far we are undefeated, 3-0! Bring it.
